GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students Union (AASU) recently had a meeting with AHSEC (Assam Higher Secondary Education Council) to discuss the upcoming Assam Higher Secondary Examination.

As per the meeting the AASU General Secretary, Sankarjyoti Baruah on Thursday 3 February informed that this year the Higher Secondary exam question paper has been set with 100 percent syllabus but the student will have alternative questions.

On speaking with the media persons, AASU GS Baruah has assured that there is nothing to worry about for students although the full syllabus is coming in the HS exam because there will be alternative questions for them to answer.

The General Secretary of AASU stated that after the meeting with AHSEC it is confirmed that the Council has prepared the question paper covering the complete syllabus but as there are alternative questions students can attempt the examination without any fear.

Baruah explained that if there are 10 questions in the question paper then there will be 10 more questions in options among which the students can choose to respond to any question they wish to.

He also stated that the All Assam Students Union has requested the exam conducting body of AHSEC to consider the future of the students and in view of this the Council has extended their support.

The council wants the HS examination to be conducted under any circumstances for the betterment of the students and their education said Baruah.

During the meeting, AASU has also appealed to Assam Higher Secondary Education Council to organize the examination following all COVID-19 protocols. The students' body further requested to make extraordinary arrangements for students who are covid positive at the time of examination so that they can sit for the exam.

Discussions were also made requesting to increase the total number of exam centers across the state and the council assured that this matter will be taken into consideration.

Sankarjyoti Baruah also said that he is not happy with the fact that this year a very less number of students are appearing for the Higher Secondary examination as over 35, 000 students have been decreased.

Earlier a huge number of students appearing for HS have made demands for reducing the syllabus for exams because their classes were not completely done in concern of the global covid pandemic.
